How to Buy from Dave & Adam’s Card World

As I have noted, I am a fan of selling sports cards on eBay. I have done it now for more than 20 years and it is a hobby that I enjoy. In previous posts, I have suggested places to buy sports cards cheaply – for example, sports card shops, card shows, Kijiji and Craigslist, and at flea markets and thrift stores.

In this post, I want to talk specifically about one vendor who specializes in selling sports cards online. That vendor is Dave & Adam’s Card World. If you are a collector, I recommend Dave & Adam’s Card World – you can get new stock quickly and they have a wide assortment of interesting items. And, they are reasonably priced.

The only drawback is for Canadian buyers – they have free shipping over $199 to the United States, but not to Canada. So if it is possible to have your purchases shipped to the US, go for it. Too bad about Canadian shipping – but sometimes they will negotiate cheaper shipping if you buy large lots from them.

I specialize in selling hockey cards, but that doesn’t mean I won’t sell other sports cards. In fact, I think successful sports cards eBay’ers sell whatever cards they can to make a profit. Here is where Dave & Adam’s Card World comes into my world as an eBay seller.

Here are some ways buying from Dave & Adam’s Card World can fuel your sales.

Study their WebSite

My first suggestion is to study their store website. I recommend taking a half hour and just poking around to get a lay of their website. Look for the Daily Deals. Take a look at the Free Gifts you receive when ordering. On Dave and Adam’s, if you order a certain amount of product, they throw in Free Gifts, and sometimes it pays to spend a bit more to get more free gifts.

Dave and Adam’s gives quite specific information about the products you are getting – so see what you get for what you spend.

Look for their Great Sale Prices

Don’t forget to look especially hard at the site’s Clearance Section – this is where I have found my best deals. Dave and Adam’s sometimes discounts products at more than 90% of original cost, and some of these products are great for eBay sellers. This link will show some of the current sales the site is featuring: http://www.dacardworld.com/sports-cards/sports-clearance-specials

For example, if you want to branch out into football, Dave and Adam’s is currently selling 2016 Panini Prizm Collegiate Draft Pickers Football Super Pack Box – it has 180 cards in it and is discounted from $119.88 to $19.95. The cards look great and it has some good “hits” (special cards that would sell well) such as autographs and short print cards.

If you are into baseball cards, Dave and Adam’s is currently selling 2014 Panini Donruss The Rookies Baseball Factory Set Box $50.00 (original price) now for $9.95. All the cards are Rookie Cards, and there is an autograph in each box. The Rookie Cards include Jose Abreu, Gregory Polanco, Jon Singleton, Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts and George Springer – and each box has a complete 100-Card Set of the Rookies. The Mookie Betts card should be especially hot.

One note: to see if there are good cards in a product you buy, search eBay’s site looking for the product name and searching under “Sold” cards. You will see, on this 2014 Donruss box that some of the cards are selling for what a box would be. These baseball cards are a good buy for eBay sellers.

Watch YouTube to see People Open Boxes

Another way to see what comes out of the boxes or packs sold on Dave and Adam’s Card World site is to watch people open the product on YouTube. Watching a few YouTube views will show you whether a product is good bang for the buck or not. I do this before I buy any product.

Look for supplies cheaply

To sell successfully on eBay, you need cheap supplies. Don’t forget to search Dave and Adam’s Card World for supplies. Last year, for example, they were selling “shoe boxes” of various sizes of used top loaders for $14 per box. I bought 20 boxes at a much cheaper price than any New Top Loaders I could fine. These top loaders have been absolutely great for packing single cards, and some top loaders can fit lots of up to 5 or even 6 cards. Dave and Adams also sells sleeves cheaply.

Branch Out into Other Sports

As noted above, and I have given two examples of football and baseball, branch out into other sports where Dave and Adam’s has a great sale on cards. You can do well buying wisely.

Contact Dave and Adam’s Card World directly

I don’t know what other people’s experience is with Dave and Adam’s Card World, but I have found their customer service to be good. After my first order, for example, I was phoned by the company directly. And, over the years, when I have a question, I email my contact there directly – he always gets back to me in a timely way.

As well, I have received special pricing when I have bought larger quantities. And, the free gifts have been lucrative for me selling on eBay.

Examples of best buys.

Let me offer three examples of the best buys I have made at Dave and Adam’s.

  1. I try to buy cheap lots of Rookie Cards – for example the 2014 Donruss lots noted above. Remember, RCs are always Rookie Cards. Some come back to be valuable. For example, this year a Victor Oladipo RC Panini Prizm #276 sold for $10.00 but only became that valuable when he had the break-out year this year. Card prices change quite often, actually.
  2. I bought 5 10 Pack Lots of 2007/08 Upper Deck MVP Rookie Redemption Hockey for $75, and made my money back quickly. I pulled 5 Carey Price RCs [one a Gold Script Serial Numbered Card #005/100, which I sold for $25.00].
  3. Another great hockey card buy for me were three cases of 2012/13 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey 12-Tins per Case. What was so attractive to me, being an Oiler fan and living in Edmonton, was that each tin had Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on it, a large-size Winter Games Hockey Card, and lots of packs to open. I did well on the inserts and pulled a number of great jersey cards.

Good luck in purchasing product for your sales on eBay.
