She’s back!

The beautiful and very family-friendly Jennifer Garner who has been seen in films like Miracles from Heaven, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, Mother’s Day and more is heading back to her roots as an action star in the film Peppermint which released its first trailer this week. Garner hasn’t done much action since her days in Alias and as the superhero Elektra but that doesn’t mean we’re not super excited to see her back to what made us love her in the first place.

In Peppermint, she plays a grieving wife and mother on a quest for revenge after her family is taken from her and a corrupt system fails her. She disappears off the grid for five years, only to return, having trained to take down those responsible for committing and covering up the crimes that left her alone.

It has been some time since Garner was part of a major action flick and she looks like she hasn’t lost a step. She’s in great shape (not that she ever wasn’t) and she’s taking out everyone.

The film is directed by Taken boss Pierre Morel, and you can tell since Garner’s character has a bit of a Liam Neeson quality to her. The premise is simple but effective as films like Taken, Death Wish, John Wick and others have seen huge success with similar ideas. That said, it is nice to see a female finally kicking ass in one of these movies and Garner is a smart choice. She’s believable as the mother who lost her family, but also has that experience in other films that show she’s believable as someone hellbent on revenge and has the skills to attain it.

What do you think? Is Peppermint the comeback film Garner needs to get back into the action game? Or, will you see her forever more as the lovable mother and wife in the type of films that have defined her movie career over the last five years?
