While it came as somewhat of a shock to the rest of the wrestling world, when Chris Jericho walked out on stage at the All Elite Wrestling rally in Jacksonville, Florida, one man already knew what was going to go down. That man was Vince McMahon as Jericho said he spoke to Vince prior to showing up.
For AEW to acquire the services of Chris Jericho is big. The former WWE star is now making the rounds for different promotions and there was speculation he might show up at Impact Wrestling. Instead, he’s joined Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks in an effort to get this new startup off the ground in a major way.
Jericho knows what his arrival in AEW means and with that knowledge, he wanted to have a chat with his former boss first. “He knew it, he knew what I was doing. It was not a surprise,” Jericho explained. Suggesting he didn’t ask for permission, he did feel he owed it to Vince who’s been good to Jericho in the past.

“A lot of that stuff is private but I did have a very amicable conversation with him,” he revealed.
Whether McMahon feels upset about this is hard to know. Immediately after Jericho showed up at the AEW rally, Jericho was moved to the alumni section on WWE.com and his likeness was removed from promotional videos that opened SmackDown Live.
Will WWE respond or is this just a bump in the road?
