In today’s second installment of the NHL rumors, we’re looking at the LA Kings and what decision they need to make on Ilya Kovalchuk, how the Oilers are going to approach fitting Andrej Sekera into their roster and what the Toronto Maple Leafs will do now that Auston Matthews is signed to a new five-year deal.
Are the Kings going to trade him as they ship out roster players for a rebuild? He’ll have to waive his no-move clause but he seems willing in the right situation.
The Oilers defenseman has been sent down the AHL for conditioning. That gives Edmonton six days to get him up and playing, and six days to clear the salary cap space needed since they’ll be over the ceiling with him in the lineup.
What moves will the Oilers have to make to become cap compliant?
