In today’s NHL rumors, there are updates on Mitch Marner out of Toronto, Richard Panik out of Arizona, Alex Edler out of Vancouver and Gustav Nyquist out of Detroit.
So many teams are close to a playoff spot that it’s hard to know exactly what anyone is worth leading up to Feb. 25.
Mitch Marner Unhappy in Toronto?
What’s the latest update on Mitch Marner’s status in Toronto. Is the team’s leading scorer upset with the way the Maple Leafs have been negotiating? Or, is Marner’s agent speaking out of turn and now backing off considering the deal that Auston Matthews just signed on Tuesday?

What will happen with the Marner camp who firmly believes they are worth every bit as much as Matthews is? Will he consider a five-year deal like Matthews did? Will he want to go the full eight and max out what he’ll get right away?
Nothing has changed in respect to him wanting to wait until after the season to finalize a deal but perhaps everything has changed now that Matthews took such a bonus-heavy contract extension.
Coyotes Fielding Calls
The Arizona Coyotes are fielding calls regarding Richard Panik. With the Coyotes clinging to a possible playoff spot, is it worth moving him? Who is calling?
What is exactly is Panik worth on the trade market where there are a variety of other options available?
Canucks Interested in Patrick Maroon?
Frank Seravalli of TSN is reporting the Vancouver Canucks and defenseman Alexander Edler have started contract extension negotiations but that the team might also be interested in adding at the forward position? Who do they have their eyes on?

Red Wings With Some Difficult Decisions to Make
What about in Detroit where the Red Wings are now officially sellers but might be looking to move pieces in a soft market? Is this is the best time to trade a player like Gustav Nyquist?
