While away from the Toronto Maple Leafs lineup, the team missed the contributions of forward Tyler Ennis who just returned to the team after suffering a broken ankle in a game versus the New York Rangers on Dec. 22.
On Feb. 23, he returned and in less than 10 minutes of playing time, scored a goal in the team’s 6-3 comeback win against the Montreal Canadiens. Then, on Feb. 25, he played just over seven minutes and scored the game-winning goal against the Buffalo Sabres in a 5-3 victory.
This is a player who signed with no fanfare at all and for only $650,000, the NHL’s minimum. A low-risk signing of a for a veteran NHL player Ennis had contributed on other teams but there was a concern the game had gotten away from him.
An in-depth look at Enni’s contributions this season show that he still has much use to the team. How can fans look at Ennis with the Maple Leafs now and call him a great deal?
